Jab se you have loved me By S R Saha

I admit that I was hesitant before purchasing this book. The tagline '...the story of an Airhostess and an IITian' was interesting, but I presumed it to be one of those Chetan Bhagat inspired books by another yuppie author  with another  college romance story. The market is now flooded with such books, and frankly most of them are unreadable. However, at the behest of a salesgirl and considering it's price to be just Rs. 100/-, I had purchased it.

But I was in for a pleasant surprise. The story is refreshingly different from what I had perceived. I just could not leave it after I had started reading a few pages. The story is hardly a love story, but about struggling young men and women. The story begins with an interview scene and I have never come across such accurate and humorous chronicle ever. ...

Author Interview: Samit Basu

Samit Basu, novelist, screenwriter, writer of comics and local monster, talks about his latest book Turbulence and writing among other things.

You wear the crown of India’s first SFF genre writer. Eight years down the line, how do you feel with that title on your head?

Ambivalent. It’s not a crown in particular, and I don’t particularly believe in book categories. I don’t see myself as a genre writer – if I did, I would be a writer in many genres, because I’ve written several kinds of stories in several media. I love fantasy books, and I’m very happy that my first three novels were fantasy, and I’m sure I’ll write more fantasy, but I’m not waving a fantasy flag. Turbulence isn’t even being called a fantasy novel – it’s as mainstream as mainstream can be, especially given the way that mainstream culture has shifted in the last decade. I didn’t even know that fantasy books were treated differently until I wrote one. So you can have the crown, if you like.

BookChums Book Launch Event: Shaiju Mathew’s debut work – Knocked Up | Mumbai Launch

Magic Moments and Reliance TimeOut launched Shaiju Mathew’s debut work – Knocked Up on Saturday (11th Dec.) at Reliance Time Out, Bandra, Mumbai.
Though a late start to the event got almost everyone waiting a bit “knocked out” but the overall event presentation more than made up for the agitation.

The book was unwrapped by Mr. Radhakrishnan Pillai, an expert on Chanakya’s teachings, after a very interesting and interactive book reading session.

BookChums Author Interview: Rashmi Kumar

A versatile new-age writer, Rashmi Kumar represents everything a “girl in the city” should. Glamorous, smart, intelligent and very humane. Currently working for Business India, there’s more to this lovely lady than just being a journalist.

Coming to your first book: Stilettos in the Newsroom-What brought about the ideation of the story?
I’ve been a journalist for the past eight years and this book reflects my observations in this field. I am a keen observer and a sensitive one at that. That’s quite a lethal combination if I may add. I wanted to show the readers and my (ex) bosses, colleagues, family and friends what I feel about the profession and how I see it.
Secondly, we all know much is written about other (business/corporate) sectors; and whatever has been penned about journalism is by very experienced journalists or experts of the field. Nothing is jotted down by freshers or the new-age journalists. I wanted to show things the way a young journalist like me saw and experienced them.
